San Francisco Treat March 31, 2008

If you’re going to San Francisco, be sure to wear some flowers in your hair comfortable shoes.
For my first photoblog post, I give you the steep streets of San Francisco, and absurd alliteration.
A little background:
At the time I took this pic, I was on tour with a band, and we made a stop in San Francisco on our way up to Oregon. One problem: the San Francisco marathon was the same weekend that we decided to go do some sight-seeing (of course!), therefore, we had no place to stay. After a long night out on the town, and several unsuccessful attempts to secure shelter for the eventing, the rest of the band slept in the van.
I, on the other hand (in all my wisdom, or stupidity, depending on how you look at it), decided to stay up and watch the San Francisco marathon, then follow the marathon to the Golden Gate Bridge. So, in reality, I walked a greater part of the San Francisco marathon, all the way to the Golden Gate Bridge.
Then, if that wasn’t crazy enough, I walked all the way back to the van, then decided I wanted to go to church that morning, so I walked up this hill (one of the steepest in San Fran), and down another into China Town, and back up to Grace Cathedral. Then I made the trek back down to the van where my band mates were just waking up, only to find out that they wanted to eat lunch and see the city. So, we made the trek back up this hill, where I took the picture.

This photo (above) is a testament to the torture that I put myself through that day in San Francisco. I never did ride the trolley. Oh well. Too late now. In effect, I walked at least 2 (if not more) San Francisco Marathons that day, after you calculate the cumulative mileage that I walked that day: the most exercise I’ve ever done in a 24 hour period.
And another:

If you’re going to San Francisco…be sure to ride the trolley, or prepare to suffer.
